On Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 13:50 hours, Stations 4 (Atlantic) and 20 (Oak Hall Rescue) were dispatched for a fire investigation near 30241 John Taylor Road. Shortly after the dispatch the call was upgraded to a woods fire and Station 6 (Bloxom) was added to the assignment. Chief 4 (D. Grant) arrived on scene and after sizing up the scene advised dispatch to add two (2) additional stations. The upgraded assignment brought units from Stations 1 (New Church) and 7 (Parksley) to the scene. Deputy Chief 4 (T. McCready) was in command of the incident. It was determined that the controlled burning of a demolished barn was the point of origin. Crews where able to contain the fire spread to the original pile and surrounding field while preventing spread to hay bale stacks and a nearby wooded area.
